About Me
Hello! I'm Sofia, thank you for stopping by. Let's get to know each other. I am a mother, therapist and arts educator with 9 years of experience in the field of early learning in BC. I was born in Caracas, Venezuela into a creative family who raised me surrounded by dance and art. My mother, who practiced Psycopedagogy inspired me to pursue a career in service of children. I studied Psychology with a focus in Developmental and Social Psychology in Simon Fraser University. Here I spent time working within the REWE Close Relationships Laboratory and volunteered my time as a production technician and assistant for various productions in SFU's school for Contemporary Arts, while also training in Theatre Production. Once my University studies were completed I moved on to a Graduate Certification in Expressive Arts therapy from Langara College and I later pursued a Master of Arts in Expressive Arts Therapy from The European Graduate School in Saas Fee, Switzerland. I have worked with Arts Umbrella, City of Port Moody, Place Des Arts, as well as independently. I've also worked closely with neurodiverse youth in Kitsilano Secondary under the life skills program, as well as recovering youth in Westminster House, during my practicum year as a Student Therapist. I have also done contract work for DAREarts (ThriveYouth) and City of Coquitlam as an Artist Educator, Cultural Ambassador and Dancer.

I am a passionate about celebrating diversity and empowering immigrant communities. I am active in the dance community and you can find me performing Venezuelan traditional dances and Bellydance around Vancouver. I also enjoy painting and selling my art in local shops, currently selling at Willow and Wallflower in Port Moody, BC.
